Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics

Overview

          The Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics, established in the year  , focusses on craniofacial growth and the development of the dentition & treating  malocclusion.  The department also deals with temporary anchorage device,clear aligners,lingual orthodontics which is a recent evolution in dentistry.The undergraduate training begins from third year of the BDS program and contains practical and clinical components. Students learn the art of basic wire bending, examining and diagnosing dental and craniofacial anomalies and are trained in treating mild malocclusions with removable and functional orthodontic appliances. Facilities in  our department include a modern orthodontic clinic and clinical laboratory; a spacious reception and waiting area; computer and, data-processing room, Library; photography room; seminar room; digital cephalometric & OPG room and separate faculty room. The Department works in close co-ordination with the Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery providing combined orthodontic and orthognathic surgery for adult patients with skeletal malocclusion and craniofacial deformity. The department also works in tandem with the department of Periodontics, Prosthodontics and conservative dentistry and endodontics for treatment involving comprehensive dental rehabilitation of patients.
